Why Audition?
– Be a part of a Saskatchewan legacy and level up your dance game! Over the last decade, the def SOL Crew, Company and competitive teams have earned top scores, numerous adjudicators choice awards and mad respect at various street dance competitions including Artists Emerge (Edmonton), In the Zone (Winnipeg) and most recently Block Party (Saskatoon).
– Our performance crews/company also perform at various major festivals, concerts, public and private events each year! Performance highlights have included opening for recording artists NAS, Joe Budden, America’s Best Dance Crew Supa Tour, the Jabbawockeez, WE Day, FIBA 3X3 World Tour, Sask Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Awards, Harlem Globetrotters and a 3 Day feature showcase at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre.
– Receive top quality training in authentic street dance! Teams and Crews are led by def SOL’s artistic director has received over 15yrs of training from street dance originators and top choreographers from all over the world . Some of her recent accomplishments include 2014 Canadian Hip Hop Championships with the 3SB Crew, 2017 Swinging with the Stars Audience Favourite, 2018 Artists Emerge finals with Duo partner Jolly deGuzman, and continuing to rep with Fly Girlz (Edmonton) who have recently opened for recording artists TLC, Sean Paul and A Tribe Called Red. Additional guest artists are often brought in to provide expertise and help coach our crews and teams to push their skills and knowledge.

Location: Saskatoon Salsa- 3521 8th Street E (Basement Suite B6)
Show us what you got! We will be holding auditions for our competitive teams and performance crews- recommended for Int/Adv dancers with a min. 2-4yrs of experience.
Sept 1st | 5:45-6:45pm Rize (8-12yrs)
Sept 1st | 7:15-8:15pm DS Juniors & DS Varsity (13-17yrs)
Sept 1st | 8:30-9:30pm DS Varsity, DS Company & Original Hype (18yrs+)
Sept 2nd | 6:45-7:45pm Sol-Funk (Ages 12yrs+)
Sept 2nd | 8:15-9:15pm Sol-Fiyah (Ages 16yrs+)
*There is a non-refundable fee of $10 for auditions & assessments- payable by E-transfer. Since space is limited, priority will be given to ‘new students’ however returning students are welcome to join us to learn a fun combo if space is still available! 🙂
How to Audition:
Step 1: Apply to Audition by Filling Out the Online Registration Form (select any/all classes and teams you are interested in taking this season). You will receive a follow up email from the director within 3-5 business days of submitting the form to confirm audition time(s) for the upcoming season.
- Only 10 spots available per class. Must pre-register- sorry no walk-ins allowed.
- There will be 2 meter spacing between dancers and masks are optional.
Step 2: Attend the Audition- Due to our COVID class transition requirements, we ask that dancers show up no more than 5-10 minutes prior to their class start time. All you need to bring is a pair of clean non-scuff runners/sneakers and be prepared to give 100% focus & effort. You will learn a short routine and asked to perform in smaller groups at the end. There may be an element of freestyle (but you do not need to prepare a solo etc). Video auditions may arranged if it is not possible to set up an in person audition.
Step 3: Get Your Results- Good Luck!
All applicants will be notified of their results within 2-3 days of their final audition by email, phone or in-person. Don’t forget to leave it all on the floor! If you don’t get the result you were looking for, train up and try again. We have a great selection of classes to challenge all ages and levels so we will work with you to reach your dance goals!
